The challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n

The deployment of 5G infrastructure in the Netherlands was accompanied by misleading claims circulating on social media. Public institutions needed ways to examine the content and understand how it spread.<\/p>\n\n\n

What Zephyros did<\/h2>\n\n\n

In 2021, Zephyros Solutions won a tender from the Province of Zuid-Holland concerning the analysis and mitigation of disinformation around 5G deployment. Project Heimdall explored tools for social-media analysis and monitoring in collaboration with the Province and WorldStartup.<\/p>\n\n\n

Technical approach<\/h2>\n\n\n

The prototype combined Transformer-based language models with network and graph analysis. A modified BERT model compared social-media content with reference material, while network analysis examined connections and patterns of circulation. The monitoring interface brought together sentiment, keywords and information-reliability indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n

Outcome<\/h2>\n\n\n

The project produced a research prototype for examining misinformation through both language and network structure. The public code repository provides a technical reference for the work.<\/p>\n\n\n
